Eleven preschoolers at the Wee Can Academy Center at the Ross Avenue campus of Dallas Can Academy were beaming with diplomas in hand as they celebrated the next step to kindergarten.  This is the first of many graduations that they will experience with the head start they received in preschool at Wee Can Academy.  Many preschoolers at Wee Can Academy already have an advantage in reading with the Marquez reading program that is taught beginning at age four.  The program emphasizes reading to the students by the teachers and students learning their first words and phrases.  Reading is scheduled as a part of each day both independently and as a group.

The graduation ceremony included a diploma and excellence award presentation, picture taking and many preschoolers wore blue or white caps and gowns for the ceremony.  Refreshments and themed cupcakes were served afterwards to celebrate the occasion.  It was a successful ending to a great year for these young scholars.

The Wee Can Academies’ mission is to provide a safe, nurturing and educational place for young children six weeks to 12 years of age and to partner with and support families.  The program provides developmentally appropriate practices to enrich the lives of young children through play, social and academic activities which will provide experiences to stimulate the physical, emotional and cognitive growth of each child.  Wee Can believes reading is the key to success.  Currently there are three Wee Can Academies located at Dallas Can Academy campuses, 4621 Ross Avenue, 2901 Morgan Drive in Dallas and 2720 Hollandale Lane in Farmers Branch.  For more information please visit www.weecanacademy.org or call 214-584-2361.
