The Magdalen House, a nonprofit organization helping women achieve sobriety and sustain recovery from alcoholism at no cost and based on 12-Step spiritual principles, is pleased to announce the addition of their first fully immersive Spanish recovery meetings for women who want to grow in their recovery and look for a solution.

“Nearly 40% of the population in D/FW is Spanish speaking,” says Chloe Cramer, director of programs at The Magdalen House. “We are proud to offer recovery meetings in Spanish as our commitment to provide diverse programming to meet the needs of our community.”

Today, there are over 250,000 alcoholic women in D/FW. According to a recent study, women increased their drinking by 41% before the pandemic. Less than 1 in 15 alcoholic women (only 6.9%) will seek formal help. Because women face more stigmatization, shame, family responsibilities, and socioeconomic barriers than men, they frequently have co-occurring disorders and are less likely to seek treatment.

If you are a Spanish speaking alcoholic woman new to recovery and want to know where to start, or you have been recovered for years and want to connect with other women in recovery, this is the meeting to join. The Spanish meeting is held every Thursday online or in person at 1:15 p.m. central. For more information please visit, https://magdalenhouse.org/spanish-services/
