Seven ESD Seniors Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program, One Named Semi-Finalist

Of the 1.5 million entrants, some 50,000 with the highest PSAT scores qualify for recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program each year. Last week during daily worship, The Episcopal School of Dallas honored seven seniors who were recognized in this year's National Merit Scholarship Program.

ESD had one student named a Semi-Finalist, representing the top one percent of PSAT scores taken in 2020-21. Congratulations to Holden Moore '22! Holden will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 Merit Scholarship awards worth about $30 million that will be offered next spring.

ESD also recognized five students as Commended Students. Out of the 50,000 top-scorers on the 2020-21 PSAT, some 34,000 were named Commended Students for their outstanding performance. Congratulations to Connor Awbrey '22, Sydney Knodel '22, Reid Moorman '22, Virginia Nussbaumer '22, Kai Robinson '22, and Rider Yeaman '22! Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.

Congratulations to these students on their outstanding academic accomplishments. We are so proud of you, Eagles!
