Local Restaurants Hold Fundraisers for Kidd's Kids Charity

Perhaps the biggest legacy being left behind by the late Dallas-based radio personality Kidd Kraddick is his beloved charity, Kidd's Kids.

Founded as a nonprofit organization in 1991, Kidd's Kids annually sponsors an all-expenses paid trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando for as many as 50 chronically ill and physically challenged children and their families.

The trip lasts five days every November and is funded entirely by listeners of Kidd Kraddick In the Morning (KKITM), corporate sponsors and various fundraisers conceived by Kraddick and his morning show team.

Since Kraddick's tragic death on Saturday, July 27, KKITM listeners have shown an outpouring of support, and several food establishments are doing their part to make sure that Kidd's Kids lives on.

131 Chili's restaurants are donating 15 percent of their profits to Kidd's Kids on Thursday, August 1. All you have to do is tell your server that you're eating to support the charity, whether you're dining in or taking food to go. Most, if not all, of the Dallas-Fort Worth Chili's locations are participating, but if you'd like to see the full list of restaurants, click here.

Friday, August 2 has been designated Kidd Kraddick Kidd's Kids Day by 106.1 KISS-FM, YEA Networks, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, Southwest Airlines and a number of cities in the DFW area.

As part of the daylong celebration of Kidd's life, Cane's customers are encouraged to donate to Kidd's Kids at any DFW restaurant location. You can also donate online at 1061kissfm.com, text KIDD to 52000 to automatically donate $10 or call 214.866.8106 to donate by phone.

Then Tuesday, August 6, all four Bread Winners Cafe restaurants (Uptown, Inwood Village, Plano and NorthPark Center) are contributing 15 percent of their sales to Kidd's Kids, in honor of Kidd, during their dinner hours (5 p.m. to 10 p.m.). Click here for more information about the fundraiser.

CultureMap Dallas reports that the cities of Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Allen, Flower Mound, Euless, Bedford, Grapevine, North Richland Hills, Addison, Coppell, Denton, Mansfield, Southlake, Plano, Frisco, Grand Prairie, McKinney, Carrollton, Weatherford, Richardson, Irving, Garland, and Mesquite have all officially declared Friday, August 2, 2013 as Kidd Kraddick Kidd’s Kids Day.
